Women Empowerment
Skill development and livelihood: Sakhi-Skill and Knowledge Development is a women empowerment project associated with Sankalp Manav Vikas. The project aims to provide tailoring training skills and pre-primary education to women and provide livelihood opportunities. In the last two years, LTIMindtree provided tailoring training to 334 women, making them self-employed with support of marketing linkages. The family income of the women doubled, making them empowered, earning members of their families, and allowing them to save money for themselves.
The women artisan’s skill enhancement: The Women Artisan’s Skill Enhancement Project trains women from tribal communities to re-create Warli, a tribal craft from Maharashtra, and further links them to markets in partnership with UNDP and CAF. We have reached 2200 women artisans across Mumbai and the Thane region through this project. Women were supported with livelihood opportunities even during the COVID-19 pandemic by generating orders of exclusive Warli face masks across India and the world through the LTIMindtree initiative.
Partnering with UN Women, LTIMindtree provides livelihood opportunities to 150 rural women, engaging them in off-farm activities leveraging the Coconut Value Chain at Vasai, Thane, and Palghar districts in Maharashtra.
